After 7 years, Bulgaria finally won against Brazil in front of their fans!!!
The Bulgarian squad was led by none other than their scoring machine Tsvetan Sokolov who scored 19 points.
At the post match press conference, setter Georgi Bratoev acknowledged the 6,000 fans who cheered for them.
“This victory is for the great audience in the hall. This crowd is always with us in the difficult moments. Victories like this one give you a lot of positives. You just know that you can play well against strong teams and you can defeat everyone. Everything depends from your performance.”
This victory puts Bulgaria in 6th place and will face Brazil again plus Argentina and Serbia next weekend in the last stage of the Intercontinental Round.
Take note, hosts Brazil plus the top 5 ranked teams will advance to the Final Round to be held in the Brazilian city of Curitiba.
