Malgorzata Glinka To Retire In May

Last month, she announced her comeback and will play for Poland at the 2014 World Championship Qualification Tournament.

According to Glinka, the aforementioned tournament will be her LAST and FINAL volleyball event because she is ready to retire and she openly admits that her body is NOT the same anymore.

She tells siatka.org:

“In May (2014), I’m going to end my career, so participation on the World Championship is not an option. I can not do it anymore. I work hard with my physiotherapist to even be able to go out on the floor every week in good shape. I can not imagine that I train hard in the summer to stay shape until the World Championship (to be held in Italy).”

She also revealed the major reason why she decided to resume her career with the National Team:

“The event will take place in Poland during the league season and it will be only three matches. I don’t want to see the Polish team, with lots of success in the past, finish last. I felt that I needed to help the team.”

At 35, she can still play against the world’s best teams and best players but at the same we totally respect her decision. She has so much love for the Polish team that even if her body takes a lot of time to recharge she will play and fight for her team.

What a trooper!
