A Heroes Welcome for Serbia

Awwwww how sweet!

Despite missing the Olympic Qualification Tournament due to injuries, Jelena Nikolic, Molnar, Ivana Djerisilo and Malagurski took time to welcome their teammates at Belgrade Airport. They were accompanied by Aleksandar Boričić, President of the Serbian Volleyball Federation and Zoran Avramović, Marketing Director.

Serbia’s women’s volleyball team makes it 2nd consecutive Olympic appearance in London. They finished fifth 4 years ago in Beijing.

Brakocevic, Milena Rasic and their fellow teammates have attained success in the last couple of years. They won a bronze medal at the 2011 World Grand Prix after defeating Russia. It was Serbia’s first ever Grand Prix medal.

Less than a month after, they won the European Championship for the very first time in front of their fans. Jovana Brakocevic was named as the MVP while her teammates Maja Ognjenović and Suzana Ćebić were recognized as the Best Setter and Best Libero of the tournament.

It’s going to be a very busy season for Serbia. They are scheduled to compete at the European League which starts this weekend with new players set to compete while the A-Team will rest and prepare for the 2012 Grand Prix before they fly to London for the Olympics.

Busy! Busy! Busy!

Anyways, here are some pics from their arrival.

We bet these girls are glad their journey to qualify for the Olympics is finally OVER!
