USA and Russia In The Final 4 Of The VNL

With Poland losing their first 2 matches against Russia (1-3) and USA (0-3), they finish 3rd in their pool and their VNL journey has ended. Russia and USA will advance to the Final 4 and will play against the top 2 teams from the other group composed of France, Brazil and Serbia.

In today’s match against Poland, Taylor Sander and Benjamin Patch rejoined the team and also played as starters. Sander skipped the first five weeks of the VNL to be with his wife as they waited for the arrival of their first child. As for Patch, the opposite spiker suffered an undisclosed minor injury.

As for Russia, they look stronger with the arrival of their superstar player, Maxim Mikhaylov. He skipped most of the preliminary round and rejoined the team in the Final Round. Tomorrow’s pool play match against USA will be a battle for first. At this point, it’s safe to avoid playing against hosts France in the semifinal round.
