Brazil A No Show At Press Conference

We Smell Drama!

June 16th, 2014

Even though they won the rematch in another epic 5 sets, it looks like Brazil DID NOT ATTEND the press conference after the match. Iran’s Coach Slobodan Kovac and team captain Saeid Marouf were the only ones who bravely faced the press despite the defeat.

“We saw the real Brazil tonight. I’m happy that we lost to Brazil’s excellent performance rather that our own mistakes.” says Marouf.

“[You must] take into account the power of the opponent we faced tonight. When we beat Brazil some say the South Americans put on a weak performance, and now that we lose they criticize Iran’s performance. Nobody mentions that Brazil are the most glorious side in World League history.” according to the coach who is in his first major competition with Iran as Julio Velasco’s successor.

Seriously, what could be the REASON why Coach Rezende and son Bruno ditched the press for the SECOND TIME?

It’s quite unprofessional. Just Saying.

After losing to Iran in 5 sets yesterday in front of more than 12,000 Iranian fans, Brazil’s Coach Rezende and Team Captain Bruno Rezende DID NOT ATTEND the press conference.

Iran 3-2 Brazil (18-25, 27-25, 20-25, 25-17, 15-9)

A source who is a member of the media tells Volleywood:

“I find it extremely disrespectful for Coach Rezende and his son Bruno skipping the press con after the match. A lof of press members waited for them so we could get their thoughts on the match and also on Brazilian’s performance in the World League so far.”

Although there’s no official reason from Brazil’s Camp, the source adds that Brazil was just too upset with the result.

“They are the #1 team in the world but their performance as a team has been very disappointing. I don’t know the exact reason why they ditched the press con but one thing I can say for sure is that Brazil is NOT in a happy place. Coach Rezende is NOT happy as well. Brazil is struggling.”

The good thing is the FIVB does not fine nor penalize a team who doesn’t show up at the press conference. Whatever Brazil’s reason was, we hope to see Coach Rez and son will show up after tomorrow’s rematch.

Seriously, this is NOT COOL.

What do you think?

May we also add that Iran has a 2-2 record versus Brazil so far in this World League.
