FIVB To Punish Brazil Due To Towel Incident

The question is…

WHO THREW THE TOWEL?

It looks like a Brazilian player got so frustrated with the reffing that he decided to throw a towel towards the reffing table after the Poland vs Brazil Final 6 match which Poland won in 5 sets.

Globoesporte reports that the FIVB is in the process of reviewing the video and will PUNISH the player who did it and will also penalize Brazil.

The video can only be viewed in Brazil but according to our source who has seen the video it DID NOT look good for Brazil.

Source tells Volleywood:

“In the beginning of the video Mario is waving a towel up and down then he says something to Raphael. Rafa replies “Throw it there”. Then later, I think Rafa regrets and tells Mario not to do it. After that the towel flies on top of the table. It comes from behind Murilo, who is obviously upset at the guy in the table.

Take note, Mario Jr. is in the back with Raphael and then suddenly a towel comes flying but it is impossible to see where it came from because it comes from from below. It wasn’t really thrown at anyone but it was thrown at the table. It’s still unacceptable.”

The source also adds that Brazil was frustrated with the referee’s decision at match point for Poland.

If the FIVB will indeed punish Brazil, we wonder what type of punishment it would be.

In case you didn’t know, Brazil went through a lot of forgettable moments throughout the tournament. Coach Rezende and Bruno were fined $1,000 each for failing to show up at a press conference after the aforementioned match. Coach Rezende reportedly flipped his middle finger towards a fan which he has denied. The setter Bruno publicly revealed that the FIVB President does not want Brazil to win gold and the team’s relationship with him is far from being good.

Any Thoughts?
