Czech Republic 2013 Grand Prix Roster

August 3rd, 2013

Days before the Grand Prix started, Helena revealed that she recently had shoulder surgery last July 30th.

“Injury is not so serious. It’s my stronger hand and I need to rest. I’m really sorry that I’m not be able to help my national team, where I enjoyed in every moment spent with those girls. The best doctors in Italy did the surgery and I think it will be okay.”

Aside from missing the Grand Prix, Helena will also miss the 2013 European Championship and the early stages of the Turkish League with her new club team Eczacibasi.

Have a speedy recovery!

Where’s Helena Havelkova???

We’re quite shocked Facundo Conte’s girlfriend is NOT on the roster knowing that the Czech squad will make its first appearance in the history of the FIVB Grand Prix.

Is she injured? Maybe she decided to stay with Facundo to help him as he recovers from injury? Whatever the reasons are, girlfriend is missing out the experience.

But maybe she will join the team later in the tournament? We hope so.

Czech squad needs her!

The player to watch out for from this roster would have to be the team’s opposite hitter and scoring machine, Aneta Havlíčková.

Here’s the roster:

1. Pavla Vincourová
2. Šárka Kubínová
3. Kristýna Pastulová
4. Michaela Monzoni
5. Ivana Plchotová
6. Eva Hodanová
7. Andrea Kossányiová
8. Michaela Mlejnková
9. Aneta Havlíčková
10. Tereza Vanžurová
11. Julie Jášová
12. Veronika Dostálová

In case you didn’t know, the last FIVB international tournament the Czech competed in was at the 2010 World Championship. The team defeated Italy in an epic 5 set marathon.

Watch This:

In European tournaments, the team won the 2012 European League which granted them a spot for this year’s Grand Prix. At the 2011 European Championship, they finished 8th.

We have a feeling the Czechs will surprise a lot of teams at the GP!
