Why Brakocevic is NOT Playing

With 9 matches to go, we hope to see her in action.

Europe’s best player is currently with Team Serbia in Japan for the 2011 World Cup BUT she hasn’t played after 2 matches. Coach Terzic finally revealed the reason why his best player has been sidelined since the Olympic qualifying tournament started.

After Serbia’s match to USA which the latter won in 3 sets, Terzic revealed to the media:

“Congratulations to the USA. We know they are one of the best teams in the world and we didn’t expect we could win before the game. We tried to do our best, but at this moment the USA are better than Serbia. In some periods of the game, we played very well, but I don’t know if that was because the USA played badly or we played good. But in some parts I’m very satisfied with how we played.”

Bracocevic had a small operation on her left hand, but I think she will play in the World Cup, maybe in some of the next games.

.

He also talked about the absence of his star setter, Maja Ognjenovic (pictured above).

“Of course, Maja is our first setter and has been for the last six years, so it’s very difficult to play without her. [Any problems we have with setting] are not because Ana (Antonijevic) is not as good as Maja – their level is not so different – but Ana practically started in the first 6 for the first time yesterday, so it makes everything different with tactics and so on. It’s normal, but we can’t play in the same way. Ana is different from Maja.

Finally, the coach dishes on Malagurski’s injury.

Sanja unfortunately has a very, very bad injury and her season is over. Maybe her next competition could be the Olympics.

After winning the 2011 European Championship, it has been a series of unpleasant events for Serbia. We really thought they’d play at the World Cup with the same squad but it appears not – obviously!

No Nikolic, No Maja, No Sanja and maybe no Jovana.

Sadddddddddddddd.

We’re still hoping they’d finish well at the World Cup.
