Jeremy Says…

I’ve taken the numbers from the FIVB for spiking, blocking, serving and setting faults to come up with the player with the most positive points.

POSITIVE POINTS = Kills + Stuff Blocks + Aces

NEGATIVE POINTS = Spike Faults (Hit into Block + Errors) + Service Errors (into net, out of play) + Setting Faults (double contact)

TOTAL POSITIVE POINTS = POSITIVE POINTS – NEGATIVE POINTS

The more positive points, the more effective a player is for their team. If you miss serves, it hurts your team, but aces help.

Which player scored the most during the First 3 matches of the World Grand Prix?

Palacios Mendoza Yoana of Cuba with 43 positive points (51+3+1-5-7-0)

Foluke is at 39 points. Sheila Castro of Brazil had 36 positive points which is tied for 3rd. Gamova is just behind her at 35.

Which player scored the most per set they played?

Sakoda Saori of Japan with 4.83 positive points (43+2+0-13-3-0=29) in 6 sets played.

She is nearly 1 full point per set ahead of Palacios and Foluke.

The average player scored 0.95 positive points a set.

The average player had 8.83 positive points at the end of the 3 matches.

Which player made the most negative points?

Malagurski Sanja of Serbia, with 30 (22 spiking faults, 7 service errors and 1 setting fault), or 2.5 points a set (12 sets played) that she gave away.

Which player had the most positive points (without subtracting for negative points)?

Kim Yeon-Koung of South Korea with 64 (57 kills, 4 blocks, 3 aces), or 6.4 pts a set (10 sets played)

Thank you so much Jeremy for taking to do this and for sharing it to us!

Can you please do Round 2 as well? =)
