Volleywood Baby Boom!

We love sharing and hearing baby news! They are the cutest news we can write about. Agree?

Within the last 12 months or so, 8 current and former volleyball superstars became moms and dads.

Here’s the list.

Italian middle blocker, Jenny Barazza, became a mother last June 4th, 2011 after giving birth to a beautiful 3 lb baby girl named her Luisa. We bet Luisa will become a talented volleybelle when she grows up just like her mom and/or she can be a footballer just like her dad, Anthony Castelli.

Luisa means “A Famous Warrior“.

Mommy Jenny is expected to return to the court later this year and will play for Italian club team Casa Modena.

Next on the list is former Brazilian opposite hitter, Leila Barros, who gave birth to a baby boy last year and named him Lukas. Leila’s husband is top professional beach volleyball player, Emanuel.

American outside hitter and 2008 Olympic Gold medalist, Reid Priddy, became a first time daddy last October 2010. Reid and Lindsay named their adorable baby boy Caden – which means fighter.

We were so lucky to be given the chance to share Caden’s pics last Halloween and Little Priddy looked so adorable! Check out Caden’s pics by clicking THIS.

Joining Reid in the Fatherhood Category is his Olympic gold medalist teammate, Kevin Hansen. Kevin and wifey Sarah became proud parents last week to a beautiful little princess named Avery Grace.

Avery means “Ruler Of The Elves” while Grace means “Blessing, Kindness & Friendship”. If we put them together, Little Hansen will become a Friendly and Kind Ruler someday. We really like the name!

Daddy Kevin has rejoined the US National Team for the 2011 World League and will travel to Brazil this coming weekend after missing the first 2 rounds.

2 time Olympic bronze medalist, Virna Dias, gave birth to a healthy baby girl last year. We could be wrong but we think she named her Julia (?). After retiring from the National Team in 2004, the former star of the Brazilian squad sometimes works as a guest commentator for international volleyball matches.

Last thing we read about her was that she was organizing a volleyball community in Brazil.

One of the most beautiful players in the world who captivated thousands of volleyball fans in the late 90s.

Mama Maurizia Cacciatori gave birth via C-section last February 20th, 2011 to a very healthy baby boy & named him Carlos (3.7 KG & 54 CM). How Cute! Of course, the proud daddy, Francesco Orsini (a former pro basketball player), was on her side to welcome their little angel in Pisa, Italy.

Why Carlos? According to the Papa, he and Mauri decided on the name while they were in Spain back in 2007. We also learned that the new mom felt like she was pregnant for ninety nine months and was quite impatient to see the baby. Just like Virna, Mauri works/worked as a sports commentator in Italy since retiring from the Italian Team.

Last December 30th, 2010, German setter Simon Tischer became a vater  papa again after his wife, Claudia, delivered a healthy baby boy named Freddy. Freddy means  “magical counsel or peaceful ruler“. Simon is currently traveling & playing with the German Team for the 2011 edition of the World League.

Finally, Dutch setter Kim Staelens welcomed her little princess, Lynn, last year before the 2010 World Championship. In case you didn’t know, Kim still managed to rejoin Manon Flier and Team to compete at the World Champs. Kim’s mother traveled to Japan together with Lynn.

We’d like to congratulate everyone for becoming proud and happy parents to super adorable little angels who will hopefully follow their footsteps and become world class athletes.
