Peruvian Fans Did It Again?

Remember THIS?

Before you start reading the rest of this post, we’d like to inform you that we did not witness the incident. We just received some reports from other sources who appear to have more knowledge about the incident. If you happen to know MORE and the TRUTH, please free free to COMMENT.

Gracias.

After losing their semifinal match against Argentina, we’re received some reports that SOME Peruvian Fans could not accept the defeat that they started throwing bottles toward the Argentinian team. Also, some of them started to verbally attack their own setter, Elena Keldibekova, by calling her OLD and that she should retire.

In case these reports are true, then we don’t tolerate such animosity towards the winning team. In this case, Argentina was the visiting team while Peru was the host. There’s always a winner and a loser in every game.

We found the video showing how the match ended. It appears that the 3rd set was very close and the ref somewhat missed a call.

Watch this…

As for calling Elena old and that she needs to rest her volleyball laurels, it’s a total disrespect against an athlete who has given Peru the glory they needed and need for so many years. Without her presence, Peru could’ve ended in the bottom 4 instead of the Final 4.

Elena together with Milagros Moy, Leyla Chihuan and Pati Soto are Peru’s Living Legends in Volleyball. They deserve a LOT OF RESPECT!

Just saying.

With Argentina defeating Peru in the semis, Peru lost its chance to qualify for the 2011 World Cup. Since Argentina finished second after getting demolished by Brazil in the gold medal match, they failed to advance to the World Cup since Korea, who finished 3rd at the Asian Champs, is ranked higher – according to the FIVB.

All we can say is: Let there be peace on earth.

Por favor.
