FIVB to Suspend Rodrigao

Really?

It appears that Rodrigao owns/manages a volleyball recruiting agency in Brazil aside from being one of the world’s top middle blockers. We’re not sure about the whole story but one thing we know is that his actions have reportedly messed up jeopardize the professional career of Leandrão (a Brazilian player) because the played ended up signing a contract in Italy and Turkey.

As a consequence, Leandro has been dropped by both teams.

FIVB is already reviewing the case and might possibly punish Rodrigao, Leandrao and even the CBV (Brazilian Federation).

If you happen to understand Portuguese, click THIS and please translate it to us when you can.

Translation:

Rodrigão, Brazil’s middle-blocker, is once again accused of brokering athletes.

The case now is even more serious ans the accusations come from Turkey. Rodrigão recently played at Ziraat Bankasi.

The leading man now is Leandrão, former Montes Claros athlete. Leandrão first signed a contract to play at Vibo Valentia from Italy through the recruiting agency Handsports, owned by Rogério Teruo.

7mais7 Sports, agency where Rodrigão is one of the partners, would have ignored this commitment with the Italian team and signed Leandrão with Turkey’s Galatasaray.

Leandrão signed contracts with two different teams and might be severely punished by FIVB. The case will be judges in September by the entity. Leandrão is already suspended. CBV, according to the sources, might be punished as well.

Turkish authorities will denunciate Rodrigão. While still in Turkey, Rodrigão would have offerend players from his company to several teams in the country. According to Caan Sports Company Limited, 7mais7 is not recognized by CBV and can’t represent athletes.

The website voleybolunsesi brings the case in its headlines and confirms the accusations and demands action from FIVB.

According to the Turkish website, Rodrigão took advantage on the situation and acted on bad faith and used his status as a national team player to suggest Leandrão’s deal with Galatasaray. Also according to this source, Rodrigão was the best paid athlete in Turkey and had periodic meetings with teams’ presidents and companies’ head men.

FIVB statute is clear and dosen’t allow working athletes to act as fellow athletes agents as well.

Rogerio Teruo, headman from Handsports, asked by us, confirmed the accusations:

‘These guys from Rodrigão’s company constantly mess around, they say they will market their players, but they deceive them. They are all adventurers’.

‘They don’t have contracts with any players, only something specific, like in Lucão’s case. They shoot to multiple targets without any know-how or responsability. When the athletes are marketable, they can fit them somewhere, in a contrary case, poor athletes. Leandrão fell for it and got hurt. Leandrão made a mistake, but it was Rodrigãos company’s fault’.

Teruo doesn’t exempt Leandrão. He thinks he was also irresponsible:

‘Yes, the kid acted on bad faith, obviously. Galatasaray works with me since 2007, and I alerted them about e-mails sent from Rodrigão. His company put Leandrão in Turkey without a contract, they can’t do it. This company is not official, CBV knows that. They hurt Leandrão by saying they could handle this but Vibo Valentia has signes with him a week earlier. Shameful. I can prove what I say. Leandrão fell for Rodrigão’s act, came here to cancel his contract and asked to be released, even though he had signed with Vibo. I am sending it all to CBV and they must take the appropriate measurements’.

About the report, Teruo was categoric:

‘They are right about denouncing Rodrigão. They are not accredited agents and Rodrigão had no right to meet with teams and say so’.

The report questions how CBV allows Rodrigão to be a national team player and an agent as well. Hansports also denounced the case to FIVB.

Galatasaray and Vibo Valentia gave up on Leandrão.

Our blog tried to talk to Rodrigão and 7mais7 representants without success.

The setter Bruno, Giba and the libero Alan, now on Brazilian national team, besides the already cited Lucão, are players represented by Rodrigão’s company.

We just have to wait and see what happens next but the future is not looking good for Rodrigao.

Good luck!
