Brazil’s Rodrigao Retires

Awwwwwwwwww…

One of Brazil’s outstanding middle blockers in the last decade has decided to retire from indoor volleyball and try his luck in the sand. Rodrigao played last indoor tournament at the 2012 FIVB Club World Championship with Al Rayyan.

In a recent interview with ESPN Brazil, Rod reveals his plans after the 2012 Olympics. It seems like the 33 year old is excited to launch his beach volleyball career.

“I have already started workouts in the sand. I play beach volleyball with some group of my friends in Santos, where I live. Moreover, I have been advised, how to build a proper preparations system, so I hope you to see me winning on the international stage soon.”

We have a feeling Rodrigao wants to follow the footsteps of former indoor star player, Nalbert Bitencourt. Sadly, Nalbert failed to achieve success in the sand compared to the years he played with the Brazilian team which includes an Olympic gold.

On the other hand, we’re optimistic for Rodrigao.

We’re just wondering who would be his beach PARTNER?

Side Dish: Rodrigão’s success with Brazil includes 2004 Olympic gold medal, 7 World League gold medals, 3 World Championship gold medals, 2 World Cup gold medals and several continental gold medal titles.
