Did Opposite Hitter Karsta Lowe Retire?

We’ve been informed that 2015 FIVB Grand Prix gold medalist and Most Valuable Player Karsta Lowe from Team USA has retired from volleyball to pursue her education. According to our source, she is currently enrolled at University Of Southern California (USC) for her Master’s Degree.

Karsta’s last match with Team USA was at the 2016 Olympics and won the bronze medal against The Netherlands. She did not participate in any of the 3 USA Volleyball’s Red VS Blue Scrimmage and her name is on the 2017 preliminary roster released by USAV.

Professionally, she last played for BAIC Motor Club in China during the 2016/2017 season.

She is also not active on social media. Her last IG post was almost a month ago.

If she has retired indeed, then it’s a bit of a shocked. She is only 24 years old and could possible play in another Olympic cycle. However, we respect her decision. Education over volleyball is a valid reason.
