The Power of Reyna Mireya!
So after Cuba lost to the Dominican Republic at the recently concluded Olympic Qualification for Norceca, a shocking report started to get viral stating that Cuba has withdrawn from the World Olympic Qualification to be held in Japan later this month because of $$$ problems.
Rumor has it that Puerto Rico will be the replacement being the top ranked team next to Cuba. There was even a report that Germany was interested to take Cuba’s spot.
But nothing beats this most recent update we’ve discovered.
After learning her Cuban team is struggling to make ends meet, 3 time Olympic gold medalist & current member of the NORCECA Board of Administration Mireya Luis talked to the NORCECA & asked if there’s any way they can provide Cuba financial assistance (US$100,000) so they’d be able to compete in Japan. Mireya seemed to have convinced the president and rumor has it now that Cuba will indeed compete to fight and win one of the 3 spots available for the upcoming Olympics.
Yay!
There’s still a chance for Cuba to qualify because we can’t picture the Olympic Games without them!
Mireya might as well call her former teammates Ruiz, Bell, Fernandez and Torres to train and rejoin the them because the current Cuban team definitely needs a leader to guide them in major competitions. Mireya might as well call Aguero and Carvajal who are now Italian and Spanish nationals to join them. Haha!
Seriously, we’re totally out of our minds dreaming for these athletes to represent Cuba again. We know it’s impossible but you can’t blame us how much we miss them. We know you miss them too!
