Cuban Outside Hitters

Their predecessors taught them very well!

After Regla Bell, Gato and Mireya retired in 2000, Cuba has never stopped producing and developing extremely athletic outside hitters to take their spots. Yumilka Ruiz took over as the leader of the team. Her experience and skills really glued the Cubans together from 2001 until 2008. Yumi was supported by the experienced Martha Sanchez, the quiet but deadly Yaima Ortiz and 2006 World Championship Best Spiker Rosir Calderon. When these players left the team, they’ve been replaced by scoring machine Kenia Carcases and Yoana Palacios who are currently Cuba’s top and starting outside hitters.

Without any further ado, Volleywood proudly presents “The Cuban Outside Hitters From 2001 – Present!“.
