Regla Bell Joins Philippine Club Team

She finally found a job!

The 3 time Olympic gold medalist has landed in the Philippines and will start training with the team that will represent the country at the 2014 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship next month in Thailand.

According to a source:

“The Philippines is proud to have her back and she will for sure be the leader when they compete in Thailand. Believe it or not, Regla still looks in great shape at 43 years old.”

The source also adds that the Cuban lefty is under contract for 2 months and there’s even a possibility she will stay and play in one of the country’s top domestic leagues, ie The Philippine Superliga aka PSL.

Take note, the last time Regla Bell visited the Philippines was in 2000 during the Grand Prix Finals together with other Cuban legends like Ruiz, Torres, Aguero, Fernandez and Costa. It was also the LAST TIME Cuba won a gold medal from a major FIVB event.

Just over a month ago, Regla was looking for a job and we’re so happy she finally found one.

She will be surrounded by young players who are hungry to learn more about the sport and will take notes on how to become a good volleyball player just like her.

In a country where volleyball is huge, no doubt fans are excited to see an Olympic Champion, a World Champion, a World Cup Champion and a Grand Prix Champion.

Push mo yan teh!

We’d also like to share the LAST TIME Regla played for the Cuban National Team which was at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
