For the upcoming 2017/2018 season, Gavin returns to Asia and will play in the Japanese League with defending champions Toray Arrows.

The 2016 Olympian who has retired from the Canadian national team is finishing his season in Poland with Resovia. The opposite hitter played in Asia before and spent 3 years with Daejeon Samsung in the Korean League from 2009-2012.
