Violence in Cyprus

This is by far the MOST VIOLENT act we’ve ever seen in volleyball!

Lo Bianco, Rosir Calderon and Galatasaray women’s volleyball club team from Turkey were attacked by Greek Cypriots (ethnic Greek population of Cyprus) yesterday during their away match against Apollon Limassol. The visiting team won the match in straight sets but unfortunately fans committed an unforgivable hullabaloo.

Watch This:

Turkish Minister of Youth and Sports, Suat Kilic, has stated that such violent act is unacceptable and the attackers must be punished.

He invites “the international sports world to be more sensitive by not ignoring the violence perpetrated by Greek Cypriots against guest players and that Greek Cypriots should be banned from all international sports activities as they do not act in harmony with the Olympics spirit, sports ethics and Fair Play. An administration that tolerates violence on guest players can not be regarded as one that has adopted an EU vision and values.”

We totally agree with him! Punish the attackers! Throwing seats, lighters, and blast bombs at the Turkish players are UNACCEPTABLE!

According to this article, Turkish players were negatively affected by the pepper spray used by Greek Cypriot police officers. Lo Bianco and Team have are expected to arrive in Turkey today.

NO TO HATE!

NO TO VIOLENCE!
