It looks like the 2 time Olympic silver medalist is NOT done with the National Team.
In an interview released by rsport.ru, Gamova states that SHE WILL PLAY FOR RUSSIA AGAIN IF THE COACH INVITES HER.
We love the fact she is has so much love and passion to represent her country BUT at the same time we think it’s time for her to pass the baton and allow the new and younger generation to play for Russia.
Gamova has done so much for her country. She has been with the team for over 15 years. Katya’s success has made her one of the best volleyball players we have ever seen.
Maybe not winning an Olympic gold after 4 Olympics is her drive to keep playing?
On the other hand, we have a feeling that Coach Marichev will call Gamova and Sokolova to help Russia qualify for the 2016 Olympics. These 2 players have the leadership and experience to guide the current squad.
If she comes back, does this mean Goncharova will become a bench player again? WE HOPE NOT! Goncha is having a great season so far!
