Dear Coach Marichev, Gamova is just one call away! She really wants to play for Russia again and compete in her 5th consecutive Olympic appearance. The only thing missing is that Olympic GOLD she has been dreaming of.
In a recent interview released by a Russian website, the 35 year old reveals that she is ready to play again for the team but it’s up to the head coach.
“I saw Yuri Marichev last time in November when we played against Dinamo Krasnodar. If I receive a call to join the national team, of course I will accept it. It is not that I am sitting and waiting for the call everyday, but I think that the conversation with head coach should take place as soon as possible.
For me, the main thing now is to return to good form.”
Take note, the last time Gamova played for Russia was at the 2014 World Championship with Russia failing to defend the crown they won in 2006 and 2010.
If Sokolova will be on the Olympic team then we hope Gamova will also be on board. These 2 have a lot of experience playing in the Olympics and it would be nice to end their career with a gold medal around their neck.
Katya is currently having a good season with her Russian club team, Dinamo Kazan.
