No Euro Champs for Baranska?

What’s up with Poland lately?

Matlak got fired by the Polish Federation then a new coach was hired. Then some veterans decided to skip the 2011 season for personal reasons, ie Bednarek wants to start a family. So then the new coach has formed very young squad to represent Poland at the 2011 World Grand Prix.

Now…

Anna Baranska-Werblinska is already skipping the Grand Prix to recover from a minor ankle surgery. It would take her a month to recover. Sadly, it looks like Anna won’t have enough to rehabilitate and train for the 2011 European Championship which kicks off next month. The Federation fears that one of their star and all around players will miss a very important tournament for Poland and her absence will affect the team’s chances to win and qualify for the 2011 World Cup.

In our opinion, Poland will not medal at the Euro Champs without Baranska and Glinka on the team.

Anyways, we’ve learned that Skowronska is reportedly interested to rejoin the team just in time for the European Champs. Well she better! Her presence might give Polska some hope.

Poland won the 2003 and 2005 European Championships and since then it’s been a rollercoaster ride for the team. A lot of roster changes, drama with the coaches, unsatisfied Polish Federation, players not getting along and many more.

2011 is a very crucial year because of the 2012 Olympics.

We wish Polska the best!
