A Greek Volleyball Incident

Some Greek Fans might have been inspired by Katy Perry’s “Firework”! Boom Boom Boom BBs!

Volleywood’s Ultimate Prince, Brook Billings, has posted on his BLOG that his teams’s semifinal match against PAOK dealt with a very aggressive group of PAOK fans. Brook and Team Iraklis were welcomed with EXPLOSIVES on the court!

Yikes!

We can understand when fans scream on top of their lungs to BOOOOO the visiting team but fans throwing explosives is a DIFFERENT and a VERY DANGEROUS STORY.

Brook shares…

Right before we were about to start the set the fans continuously threw paper rolls and cut up paper squares on the court.  This delayed the start an extra 20 minutes.  As we were waiting for them to clean it up and trying to stay warm I noticed a item thrown 3 feet from some of our players.  It looked like a grenade with smoke coming out of the top.  At first I just thought it was a smoke bomb and noticed my friend Stelios walking towards it to kick it away off the court.  He was probably 2 feet from it when it exploded.  Some of the plastic shrapnel hit him in the shin as well as my other friend/teammate Zenia.  They cleared us out of the gym at this point.

Scary!

Definitely not the kind of volleyball environment we’d want to see or be a part of. Again, we can tolerate the BOOS from fans but throwing items like paper rolls and explosives are definitely not cool.

Brook also added that during the match, a fan threw a can of soda  and hit his setter to go along with water bottles and big batteries.

We suggest you read his entire post about this forgettable incident by clicking THIS.

Brook’s team won in 3 against Jon Winder and Team Paok.

Luckily, no one was seriously hurt!

We hope that this won’t happen again. We hope the Greek Federation will find ways to resolve such aggressive and unsafe acts from some fans and avoid any major accidents.

We don’t want anyone to get hurt! We should just enjoy the match without acts of violence. Right?

If we were in the gym during this incident, we would definitely throw our POKEMONS and let Pikachu and friends deal with these fans. Pika Pika Pikachu? We kid We kid!

Peace Over Violence BBs.
