Olympians Can Still Facebook (Sorta)

We wonder how Destinee Hooker volleyball players will feel about this…

The International Olympic Committee aka IOC wants to inform athletes competing at the 2012 London Olympics to be very careful when they use social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

The IOC rule clearly states that when athletes update their Facebook and tweet on Twitter it “should be in a first-person, diary-type format and should not be in the role of a journalist – i.e. they must not report on competition or comment on the activities of other participants or accredited persons.”

Athletes who will post/ tweet vulgar or x-rated updates will get kicked out right away. Therefore, do not even think about it.

Updates and tweets  are acceptable “as long as it is not for commercial and/or advertising purposes.” Also, The IOC  does not want athletes to report about the any competition or share any personal information of any other other organization or athlete.
