Let’s Go Ladies!

As part of Volleywood’s LOVE WEEK celebration, we thought of female players we want to take out on a date. Nothing Romantic! Just a Friendly Date! You know just have coffee, talk about volleyball, their crushes. fashion and other things.

It’s like a GIRLS DAY OUT or a GIRLS NIGHT OUT!

Let’s GO GIRLS!

China’s Zhou Suhong: We want to take her to a nice and a quiet area somewhere in Hongkong. We want to ask her she puts her 2004 Olympic Gold and also we want to check on the status of her husband who is semi-paralyzed after getting injured a few years ago while warming up before a volleyball match. Zhou Suhong is one of China’s top volleyball players. She was the shortest opposite hitter in the 2004 Olympics yet she was one of the best spikers!

Brazil’s Sheilla Castro: We will ask her to take us to the most beautiful beach in Brazil! She can bring her best friend MARI if she’d like! 3 is a crowd right? We just want talk about her early years with the National Team. The 2008 Olympic gold medalist in 2008 is perhaps the world’s best opposite player right now. (Gamova might not like this.)

Debby Stam from The Netherlands: Since she’s already married, we will just ask Debby to invite us over to her house for coffee. Girlfriend missed the 2008 World Championship due to a back injury but she has recovered since then and her Polish club team, Muszyna, is still in the Playoffs of the Champions League. We want to talk about her injury and of course married life.

Costa Rica! The more the merrier! We will go shopping with these girls! Why not right? They show a lot of team spirit and fought hard last year at the World Championship. Despite not being one of the best teams in the world. Willis and her teammates have developed their game so much and in the coming years they can be another major force in The Americas.

Naz Aydemir from Turkey:  The gorgeous and talented Naz can take us around Istanbul! She can ask her Fenerbahce teammates to join us. If we can ask Naz two things, it’d be: Since she plays with the legendary Fofao this season, what has she learned from her so far? The other question would be: What is she looking for in a guy?

Sawadee Ka Thailand! Since their country is known for its beaches, then Nootsara, Onuma & teammates can take us around all day! Hopefully, the hours we’re with them we will learn how to endlessly smile. These girls know how to have FUN on the court even if they are losing or winning. Seriously, we want to learn that kind of energy because sometimes when we play we get a heart attack when our team is losing. Dear Thailamd! Teach us how to smile. And before we forget, Logan Tom can join us! Kidding!

The Russian Tower: Ekaterina Gamova! Since it gets really cold in Russia, a Tea Date with Katya would be perfect. The first question we’d ask her would be: What does she think of these players? Sheilla Castro, Neslihan Darnel, Aguero and Logan Tom. We doubt she will answer that question but we’ll give it a shot. Also, we’d ask how where she keeps her medals and individual awards and the last topic we’d discuss would be the advantages and disadvantages which a tall person constantly encounters on a daily basis.

Francesca Piccini aka The Most Beautiful World Champion from Italy: Since she’s from the fashion capital of the world, we’d ask Picci to take us to her favorite stores in Italy and if she can share a tad of her hotness! Hahahaha! Seriously, we want her to take us shopping. On our way to the store, we’d ask her if she’d welcome Aguero back on the team. That’s the only question we’d ask. And of course we’ll ask her on what she thinks of our Italian crushes: Albero Cisolla, Simona Parodi, Matej Cernic, Cristian Savani, Mattero Martino and many more!

Yuko Sano from The Land of The Rising Sun! She is so entertaining to watch when she plays! Girlfriend makes digging balls really fun! Well we dig balls too but Yuko has her way of making it super fun. We’d ask Yuko about her daily routine when she’s not playing and also ask her the hardest spike she has ever dug in her life! We also plan on asking her if she’s scared to get hit on the face. For sure it has happened to her a few times. For a libero, your main task is to pretty much keep the ball alive. You can dig it with your hands, feet and use your face when needed. Arigato Yuko!

Poland’s very own Maggie Glinka! Since she looks like she’s very fun to be with, we’d ask Maggie non-volleyball related questions. How she balances her time as a wife, mother and as a player. We’d ask her for tips she can share to women who are like her (a working mom). Her first impression of Turkey where she currently plays professionally. Finally, we’d ask Maggie if she ever thought of reaching out to Skowronska and coach Matlak to mend fences and work together. Oops! Did we just ask her about volleyball?

The MVP of the 2010 Grand Prix from the USA: Foluke Akinradewo! She might be quiet when she plays, but we think Foluke is super fun to hang out with off the court. We want to  take her clubbing with us in Las Vegas! Why not right? Hahaha! On the plane, we’d ask if she expected to win the 2010 Grand Prix MVP Award (which most of us thought would go to her teammate, Hooker), her training routine in Japan where she currently plays, if she has moved on from her NCAA life wherein she and her Stanford team made it to the final match but failed to win a title a few times and finally we’d ask her to take a picture of the weirdest looking passenger on the plane. Hahaha! So Off the Wall!

Sarai Alvarez from Puerto Rico: Since she seems like a busy girl, we’d only ask her one question: What happened to Puerto Rico at the 2010 World Championship? Her team struggled throughout the tournament and played like they were not having fun anymore (in our opinion). She can text Aury Cruz if she needs more answers but we seriously want to know. We’re just a little disappointed with their performance. That’s all.
