It’s been 3 years since USA won the Olympic gold medal. Luckily, Riley Salmon, an outside hitter, had a few minutes to spare & answered some of our questions.
How’s life been since winning the gold?
Changed alot. We hit the absolute milestone of a volleyballers lifetime.
The first thing you did after winning the gold?
Enjoyed a great evening with the guys and staff and USA mates and all of our families.
The thoughts in ur head looking at your gold medal?
My initial thought was a sigh of relief. I say thAt because of the enormous expectations I put on myself and our team.
When was the last time u held your gold?
A couple of weeks ago. We moved houses.
If you can bring back one moment from the 2008 Olympics which moment would it be and why?
Probably the win vs Serbia were I had a huge transition swing at 13-12 Down the line of course and then Lloy Ball having the faith to give me match ball at 14-13 knowing I’d not let our team down.
What’s your thought on Team USA for the 2012 Olympics in London?
Hang on to your socks. We got some high flyers coming at u!

Before we forget, we just want to say that Riley Salmon shatters the myth that you have to be tall to play volleyball as an attacker at a high level.
