Stanford Volleyball Remembers Sam Wopat

Sam Wopat will always be remembered & part of the team!

Stanford University’s 2012 season kicks off this Friday in Honolulu, Hawaii for an invitational tourney. With Sam in the hearts of the players, they plan on wearing her initials “SW” on their shorts as their way of remembering their teammate who died last March.

Sam’s twin sister & one of the team’s star player, Carly, says…

“Sam is definitely involved with the team this season. The whole team is thinking of her. We’re holding her locker in the locker room. We have her initials on our spandex, so every time we step on the court, she’ll be in our thoughts. Personally, Sam is always in my heart and in my mind. Every point, every game, every match, I’ll be playing for her.”

In case you didn’t know, Carly together with her mother and senior setter, Karissa Cook, went on a journey via Darkness Overnight Walk in San Francisco last June as their way of honoring Sam & providing hope for those who suffer with mental illness, addiction, or depression.
