Sad, sad, sad news for Trento fans.
Superstar players Osmany Juantorena and Raphael are officially joining Matey Kaziyski in Turkey to play for Halkbank Ankara for the 2013/2014 season. Knowing that Trentino is facing budget cuts, the Power of 3 (Matey, Os & Rapha) reportedly received $$$ offers from the rich Turkish club team they could not refused.
From Raphael:
“I’m really very sorry to leave Trentino, it something that I never wanted to happen, but these things do happen sometimes. The important thing to know is that this is not anyone’s fault, and that if there were no budget problems my relationship with Trentino Volley would last a long time.”
From Osmany:
“I want to thank everyone, from President Mosna, for this wonderful period lived in Trento and the most beautiful part of my career where I won all the trophies I could dream of. It’s a great pain to go away, because I think this group still had a lot to say and to win, and my hope we can return to Trento as early as the next season. I will always be available to return if the President wants it.”
In case you didn’t know, 2 time Olympian Donald Suxho is the new setter for Trentino while Bulgarian striker Tsvetan Sokolov is expected to rejoin the team. Expect more hirings from Trentino in the coming days.
As for Halkbank, the pressure is on to WIN the Turkish League and Champions League knowing that they have invested A LOT OF MONEY on these new players.
