Matey Kaziyski Leaves Trentino

July 1st, 2013

It’s official!

Matey and Coach Stoytchev have left Trentino and will head to Turkey to play for Halkbank Ankara.

Matey says…

“I decided to follow Stoytchev in this adventure to Turkey for many reasons, personal and professional. Going away from Trento is very difficult, it is like leaving my house and for that reason I hope there is a chance to return here soon. First of all, I want to thank the company, my teamamtes and finally the fans with whom we shared six beautiful years rich in victories. I hope that is not a goodbye but just a goodbye in a year.”

Matey’s transfer broke the heart of Trentino’s Diego Mosna and thousands of fans who have been following his 6 year career with the team. With Trentino, Matey won 14 major titles, 4 FIVB World Club Championship, 3 Champions League, 3 Italian League, 3 Italian Cup & 1 Italian Super Cup crown. He has also represented the team in 277 matches.

Mosna has publicly stated that he is “disappointed” with the news but he remains optimistic with the future of Trentino Volley.

To honor Matey, Mosna has retired jersey #1.

With budget cuts, rumor has it that Trentino’s Raphael and Osmany Juantorena are also planning to move to Turkey.

We’re not even sure what to say.

The more and more media sites report about it, the more we believe that it’s actually happening.

Rumor has it that Matey Kaziyski has reportedly decided to leave Italian club team Trentino and will now be playing for Halkbank Ankara in Turkey.

Take note, Trentino’s superstars like Osmany Juantorena, Raphael, Tsvetan Sokolov and Coach Stoytchev might also join him after receiving lucrative offers they couldn’t refuse.

For now, Matey is the center of this trending topic among volleyball fans.

A source familiar with the negotiation exclusively told Volleywood that Trentino’s Diego Mosna is trying to convince Matey and the rest of the players to stay. “Halkbank has all the money in the world to sign up the world’s best players like Matey and even Osmany.” says the source.

The source also adds that it was not a very easy decision for Matey to leave Trentino. “Matey loves Trentino with all his heart. With the team, Matey became a household name and also tasted success a player would ever dreamed of.” ends the source.

For now, Trentino remains quiet on the “rumor” but Diego Mosna has stated that there are negotiations going on.

Stay tuned!
