Matteo Martino Speaks His Mind

What is WRONG with him? Why does he sound like the most ungrateful volleyball player in the world right now?

SADDDDD!

Italian outside hitter, Matteo Martino, has so much bitterness in his heart towards the sports which feeds him. In short, he really enjoy biting the hand that feeds him.

In a recent interview published by siatkowka24.com, shares his thoughts on the Polish League, living in Poland and his relationship with his teammates.

Before reading more below, we warn you that he pretty much has NOTHING NICE to say.

On his Polish club team…

“The team of Jastrzebski Wegiel is a very good collective with a lot of good luck. I like the city I live in. I would love to stay here for another season.”

Most memorable match in the Polish League…

I think it might be the first match of semi-finals versus Zaksa. We were doing brilliantly and we won the match. I thought that was a great win and we’d play to be in finals but I was wrong. Zaksa was a very difficult team to beat.

On playing for the Italian National Team again…

I really don’t know. Honestly, I’ve made up my mind and I just want to play beach volleyball. It’s where I belong.

On playing overseas and if he still finds it interesting…

Poland is of course interesting to me. It’s a nice place, but I really don’t like the pizza (smiles) here. It’s a good place for volleyball. However, I have to admit that it’s so peaceful and calm here compare to Italy. At 10 p.m. everyone is already in their homes. Nothing is going on in the streets. I think it has something to do with the weather. It’s very cold here and I don’t like it.

On his performance with his team despite the having the “skills” to play in the starting six…

It’s simple. I did NOT want to show it.

When I was a child, my parents took me to volleyball school. It was the beginning of my adventure with this sport. I didn’t really have any influence of who I became. For me, volleyball is just a job, not a hobby or pleasure. I’m not perfectly happy about it. That’s why I prefer stay out of the court, stay on the bench. In addition, I don’t really get along with with a few players and it also affects my game.

Relationship with his teammates…

No, I don’t. Like what I’ve mentioned, volleyball is just a job. I don’t try and praise my teammates like how awesome they are because for it’s all bullsh*t. I don’t like the fact I have to see some familiar faces every day. All my friends are in Italy.

On being a DIVA, difficult player and teammate…

No, no (smiles). That’s not true. It’s just the opinion from those who only know me as a player or when I play. I usually don’t show a lot of emotions, but I don’t need it either. I don’t like training, I don’t like seeing some people, so I sit on the bench. I know… I’m crazy (smiles).

At least he knows he’s crazy. Hah!

He might seem arrogant or become the player we can all dislike but at least he’s honest but we still can’t believe he actually said these things!

Oh Martino!

We strongly prefer seeing with your lips closed and just dance the bitterness away.

Remember this?
