Cristian Savani Embraces China

After all the rumors, Savani finally talks about his move to play in the Chinese League.

In an interview released by iltuovolley.it, the 31 year old talks about one of the most life changing decisions he has ever made in his volleyball career. After 12 seasons in the Italian League, the 2012 Olympic bronze medalist is prepared to spread his wings in Asia.

On his decision…

”Mihaela and I are very happy to experience this new adventure. When I realized that my time in Macerata was over, all I wanted was to go abroad and play in some other country. At first, I tried to go to Turkey or Russia, 2 leagues that are now very interesting. But, Russia has some rules changed slightly compared to last season, while Turkey got the whole Trentino team and then Shanghai project came up. I felt the strong desire to go to China and I accepted the offer.”

The perks…

”I can only tell you what I saw. First of all we train in a beautiful training center with the national Olympic swimming team and famous runner Liu Xiang. He is currently working with former personal trainer of Kobe Bryant and has only one task of recovering him from serious injury.”

Shanghai…

”Shanghai is actually very westernized. Life is expensive but the city truly offers the best of the best. Everything I want to do now is live in the moment with Mihaela and Mia.”

Cristian also added that the Italian team is in transition with a lot of young players to prepare for the 2016 Olympics. He acknowledges Beretta, Vettori and Piano as the future of Italian volleyball.

We have so much respect for this athlete.

Have fun in China!
