We hope this RUMOR is true!
After his Brazilian club team, Amil Campinas, failed to reach the final match of the women’s Superliga, Coach Roberto Guimaraes flew to Turkey to talk and to recruit players and hopefully convince a “star” player to play in Brazil. One of the players reportedly having a “business talk” with Coach ZRG is with Russian superstar, Lioubov Sokolova.
Sokolova in Brazil? That’d be epic!
In case you didn’t know, Coach ZRG and Sokolova have worked together in the past in Turkey for Fenerbahce.

“It’s just a rumor that ZRG is recruiting Sokolova to play for Amil. Brazilian fans know who she is and they admire. I think she would have a great time living and playing in Brazil. At this point, there’s no guarantee. Sokolova has a son and she prioritizes his studies more than anything. Moving to Brazil would be another adjustment period for her son if she’s taking him. A lot of of factors to consider before Sokolova takes the offer.”
Our source is right. It will be a HUGE step for Lyuba to play in South America knowing she has pretty much spent most of her professional life in Europe.
As for Lyuba’s contract price, source adds…
“Sokolova and Kim Yeon Koung are the 2 highest paid athletes in the Turkish League this season. I am not sure how rich Amil is, but they would for sure spend a lot of $$$ to convince Sokolova.”
We are really crossing our fingers on this one. We really want to see Sokolova compete in one of the world’s toughest professional leagues.
Come on Lyuba! Make up your mind!
