The Highest Paid Thai Players

They deserve all the $$$!

Despite not making it to the 2012 London Olympics, Thailand’s women’s volleyball team has improved tremendously in the last couple of years. They have qualified for the Final Round of the 2011 and 2012 Grand Prix, one of the world’s most prestigious annual tournaments. On top of their international achievement, Coach Radchatagriengkai’s squad just recently won the gold medal at the 2012 Asian Volleyball Cup by defeating title favorite China.

One of Azerbaijan’s top club teams, Igtisadchi Baku, started to notice the amazing talents of the Thai players. They wasted no time offering 7 Thai players to play for them this 2012/2013 season.

One of the magnificant 7 is Onuma Sittirak, the Best Spiker, the Best Scorer and the Most Valuable Player of the 2012 AVC Cup is optimistic with her decision to play overseas together with her teammates.

“I will gain valuable overseas experience especially when I play against taller rivals from Europe. Not only I but seven of us from the Thai national side will learn together. The experience we gained would be an asset when we play much taller and stronger rivals in future. Of course, I’m pleased with the money they are offering.” according to the 26 year old who has played in Russia 2010-2011 season.

Aside from gaining valuable experience, the following Thai players will also boost their saving$.

Onuma Sittirak: $150,000

Nootsara Tomkom: $125,000

Pleumjit Thinkaow: $80,000

Wilavan Apinyapong: $80,000

Malika Kanthong: $80,000

Amporn Hyapha: $70,000

Wanna Buakaew: $60,000

They might want to add $50,000 more for Pleumjit because she just won Volleywood’s my 2012 Idol. =)

Take note, their salaries for one season do not include bonuses. More $$$ will be injected into their savings account depending on how the team performs.

Aside from competing in the Azerbaijan League,Igtisadchi Baku will also fight for the CEV Cup crown against other European teams.
