A great start for the Dutch duo!
The Netherlands’ best men’s beach volleyball team of Richard Schuil and Reinder Nummerdor won the 2nd edition of CEV’s Beach Volleyball Satellite, an indoor tournament held in the city Aalsmeer, Netherlands.
Richard and Reinder, who used to play for the indoor team, dominated the gold medal match against a young Polish team of Michal Kadziola and Jakub Szalankiewicz (21-13, 21-17). It only took them 34 minutes to take the crown.
The bronze medal match was more exciting with Patrick Heuscher and Jefferson Bellaguarda from Switzerland clinching the victory after an epic 3-set battle against the Dutch team of Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen (28-26, 20-22, 15-13).
In case you didn’t know, Reinder Nummerdor missed the 2011 inaugural tournament due to an injury so Richard Schuil partnered with Jon Stiekema and still managed to win.
