French middle blocker Christina Bauer leaves Yamamay and becomes a Yellow Angel with Fenerbahce women’s volleyball team.

After 3 successful seasons with Italian club team, Yamamay Busto, the 25 year old joins one of the richest club teams in the world with Kim Yeon Koung (KOR), Garay (BRA), Havlickova (CZE) and Alisha Glass (USA).

Is there a possibility that Fenerbahce will get the wild card for the 2013/2014 Champions League? We really hope so!

With all the star players that the Turkish club team is recruiting for next season, it looks like they are preparing for something major major and/or strengthening their women’s squad after a disappointing 2012/2013 season.

Power Up!

The Turkish club team has officially signed on American setter Alisha Glass and Aneta Havlickova from the Czech Republic. These 2 will join Korean sensation Kim Yeon Koung and Brazil’s Fernanda Garay for the upcoming season.

The team will also have a new a coach, Marcello Abbondanza.

We’re so happy for Alisha! She will now succeed her USA teammate Lindsey Berg & will finally play for a team who has a great track record when it comes to paying their players on time. 2 years ago in Poland, Alisha’s team Atom Sopot had financial problems and failed to fulfill its salary obligations. Alisha and Team won the Polish League with almost empty pockets. Then during the 2012/ 2013 season, Alisha played in Italy for Modena and suffered the same fate. Her team shut down in the middle of the season due to financial crisis which includes a fake sponsor.

As for Havlickova, she is one of Europe’s best opposite hitter. She currently plays for Lokomotiv Baku in Azerbaijan and she has been her team’s most effective scorer.

Aneta will also make her Grand Prix debut this year with the National Team.

Finally!

Garay has left Sollys Osasco and will spread her wings in Turkey!

After almost 2 weeks of never ending speculations on where she would play next, Fenerbahce proudly announces that they have signed up Brazilian outside hitter and 2012 Olympic gold medalist Fernanda Garay Rodrigues aka Fe Garay for the 2013/2014 season.

Source says Garay’s 1 year contract is in the $500,000-$600,000 range.

Garay and Kim Yeon Koung as outside hitters? Yes Please!

The 26 year old is the first official foreign transfer Fenerbahce has announced for the new season. They have not announced if Kim will renew but we’ve been informed that the Korean outside hitter is still under contract for 2 more years.

There’s also no word if American setter and 2 time Olympic silver medalist Lindsey Berg will continue her professional career with one of the richest club teams in the Turkish League.

In case you didn’t know, Fenerbahce hired 2 Brazilian players for the 2012/2013 season namely Paula Pequeno and Mari Steinbrecher. The former had a so-so performance while the latter was a bench player. Sadly, both ended their season abruptly due to injuries.

There’s no word yet if Fenerbahce will compete in the prestigious Champions League. Only 3 spots will be given to Turkey and it might go to Vakifbank, Eczacıbaşı VitrA and Galatasaray. There’s a slight chance Fenerbahce will get the “wild card” from the CEV.

The Yellow Angels will most likely compete in the CEV Cup.
