Facundo is recovering after his shoulder surgery.

He tweeted this pic 7 hours ago:

Great to see he’s in good spirits and the procedure went smoothly.

Have a speedy recovery Facu! We’re going to miss you this season!

See you soon BB!

Noooooooooooooooooo!

Due to a right shoulder injury which requires surgery, Facundo Conte will not play with Argentina this season. Conte will miss the 2013 FIVB World League and the 2013 South American Championship.

Facu is Argentina’s BEST outside hitter right now and the team’s chances of winning is limited without him. Hopefully, Coach Weber will have enough time to train and invest on the other left side hitters on the squad namely Rodrigo Quiroga, Federico Pereyra, Cristian Poglajen, Nicolás Bruno & Pablo Bengolea.

It looks like the 2 starting OHs would be Quiroga and Poglajen.

In case you didn’t know, Argentina will host the Final Round of the World League. For sure we would see Facu in the stadium cheering for his teammates!

Get well soon BB!

No major changes…

But the great thing is the Argentina is now a MORE EXPERIENCED squad after achieving success in the last couple of years which includes the team’s participation at the 2012 London Olympics. The team’s star players like Facundo Conte, Rodrigo Quiroga & Luciano De Cecco compete/d in the world’s most competitive leagues like Russia, Italy and Brazil.

On the other hand, we hope the Ivan Castellani gets more playtime and become a starter. Coach Weber really needs to invest on Castellani. He’s young and loaded with skills to lead Argentina in this new Olympic cycle.

Take note, Argentina is also hosting the Final Round of the 2013 World League.

Argentina’s 2013 Roster:

Setters: Luciano De Cecco, Nicolás Uriarte
Middle Blockers: Sebastián Solé, Pablo Crer, Maximiliano Gauna, Martín Ramos
Opposite Hitters: Iván Castellani, Bruno Romanutti, Guillermo García
Outside Hitters: Facundo Conte, Rodrigo Quiroga, Federico Pereyra, Cristian Poglajen, Nicolás Bruno, Pablo Bengolea

The only obvious change is that Pereyra is now listed as an outside hitter instead of being an opposite hitter. It can only mean one thing, Castellani might indeed be a starter this season.
