Cuba’s Regla Torres

The 3 time Olympic gold medalist from Cuba and one of the world’s BEST FEMALE volleyball players turns a year older today, ie 39.

Happy Happy Happy Birthday Regla!

Aside from the 3 Olympic medals (1992, 1996 & 2000), Regla also won the gold from the following tourneys:

1994 and 1998 World Championship
1989, 1991 and 1995 World Cup
1993 World Grand Champions Cup
1993 & 2000 World Gran Prix

Individual awards:

2001 Hall of Fame Inductee
2000 Summer Olympics “Best Spiker”
1998 World Championship “Most Valuable Player”
1998 World Championship “Best Blocker”
1994 World Championship “Most Valuable Player”
1994 World Championship “Best Blocker”

One of the biggest highlights of her career was the FIVB named her as The Best Female Athlete Of The 20th Century in 2001.

She last competed in her Cuban jersey at the 2002 World Championship in Germany.

At present, she is part of the women’s national team coaching staff.
