It’s only five days since the 2015 men’s EuroVolley came to a close at Arena Armeec in Sofia but Volleyball fans can already start making plans for the next major highlight coming up shortly after the New Year’s holidays with the Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament which is due to take place at Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin from January 5 to 10. The eventual winners of this competition will book their ticket to the Rio 2016 Olympics whilst the runners-up and third-placed team will continue to pursue their Olympic dream at the World Olympic qualifier which is due to follow in May / June 2016.

The eight participating teams were split into two pools of four each as follows:

Pool A: Germany (host), Poland, Serbia, Belgium

Pool B: Russia, Bulgaria, France, Finland

With Italy having already secured their qualification to Rio 2016 by claiming second place at the FIVB World Cup a few weeks ago, the remaining top sides from the latest European Men’s Ranking List got the right to vie for the much coveted ticket to the Olympics that will be at stake in Germany’s capital.

The eight participating teams in the Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament were seeded according to their position in the latest European Men’s Ranking List which was released earlier this week following completion of the 2015 men’s EuroVolley (see here).

A high-fly Volleyball competition is returning to Max-Schmeling-Halle only a few months after the highly successful Final Four tournament of the 2015 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League – Men.
