Gold Medal Match: France vs Serbia: France claimed their first FIVB Volleyball World League title when they defeated Serbia 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-23) at the Maracanazinho Arena on Sunday. Their previous best was silver in 2006.

Serbia vs Poland: Serbia needed to be at their very best to beat Poland 3-2 (18-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 15-13) in the FIVB Volleyball World League at the Maracanãzinho Arena on Friday, a result that ensures both teams progress to Saturday’s semifinals.

Poland vs Italia: Poland recorded a 3-1 (25-15, 27-25, 20-25, 25-20) victory over Italy on their debut in World League Finals. The current world champion team had a great performance, especially Michal Kubiak. The polish spiker attacked and blocked well during the match and scored 19 points while Filippo Lanza scored 14 points for Italy.

Brazil vs USA: Brazilian team entered on court only with victory in mind. That was the only result capable to maintain the host nation alive in World League Finals. With a 10,000 roaring fans support, Brazil recorded a 3-1 (28-26, 22-25, 25-22, 27-25) victory over the United States and made the crowd at Maracanazinho happy. Ricardo Lucarelli was the Brazilian best scorer with 21 points. Matthew Anderson had 30 points for the USA.

Brazil vs France: France prevailed over Brazil with a 3-1 (27-29, 25-21, 31-29, 25-19) victory, falling just in the first set. Almost 10,000 fans supported Brazil at Maracanazinho, in Rio de Janeiro, but the European team had amazing performances by Antonin Rouzier, top scorer of the match with 25 points, and Ngapeth (21 points). Spiker Ricardo Lucarelli was the best Brazilian scorer with 21 points.

Serbia vs Italia: The short-handed Italian team beat Serbia in a dramatic World League Final match in Rio de Janeiro: 3-2 (25-23, 14-25, 25-23, 20-25, 15-9). Filippo Lanza led the Italians with 20 points, while serbian Aleksandar Atanasijevic was the top scorer of the game with 26 points.
