Coach Kiraly Still Does NOT Need Hooker

The 2016 Olympics is less than 2 years away.

We still have a feeling Hooker will play for Team USA starting next year.

But for now…

After not getting the call to compete at the 2014 FIVB Grand Prix, Destinee Hooker‘s international career with Team USA takes another bump with her name missing from the preliminary roster for the upcoming 2014 FIVB Women’s World Championship released by USA Volleyball last August 29th.

Per USAV:

Team USA Head Coach Karch Kiraly and his coaching staff have selected the 22-player preliminary roster for the FIVB World Championship. The roster will be trimmed to 14 players who will travel to Italy with 12 players able to be suited for each match.

Setters: Alisha Glass (Leland, Mich.), Jenna Hagglund (West Chester, Ohio), Molly Kreklow (Delano, Minn.), Courtney Thompson (Kent, Wash.)

Liberos: Kayla Banwarth (Dubuque, Iowa), Nicole Davis (Stockton, Calif.), Natalie Hagglund (Encinitas, Calif.)

Outside Hitters: Kristin Hildebrand (Orem, Utah), Kim Hill (Portland, Ore.), Jordan Larson-Burbach (Hooper, Neb.), Cassidy Lichtman (Poway, Calif.), Kelsey Robinson (Bartlett, Ill.)
Middle Blockers: Rachael Adams (Cincinnati, Ohio), Foluke Akinradewo (Plantation, Fla.), Christa Dietzen (Hopewell Township, Pa.), Tori Dixon (Burnsville, Minn.), Lauren Gibbemeyer (St. Paul, Minn.), Lauren Paolini (Ann Arbor, Mich.)

Opposites: Nicole Fawcett (Zanesfield, Ohio), Alix Klineman (Manhattan Beach, Calif.), Kelly Murphy (Wilmington, Ill.), Bailey Webster (Baltimore, Md.)

The Americans, ranked second in the world by the FIVB, are grouped into the first round Pool C in Verona with No. 6 Russia, No. 12 Thailand, No. 18 Netherlands, No. 23 Kazakhstan and No. 28 Mexico. Team USA opens with NORCECA rival Mexico at 11 a.m. PT on Sept. 23, then has a quick turnaround on the court to face Kazakhstan on Sept. 24 at 1:30 a.m. PT. The U.S. challenges Netherlands on Sept. 25 at 11 a.m. PT before the off day on Sept. 26. Team USA takes on Thailand on Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. PT before concluding Pool C against Russia on Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. PT.

On the other hand, we’ve always wondered why setter CARLI LLOYD NEVER GETS TO PLAY!
