Bartosz Kurek Takes The Blame

October 1st, 2013

After a nightmare result at the recently concluded European Champs, Poland’s Kurek moves on to fulfill his dream to play in the Italian League for Team Macerata.

Kurek says…

“I said this many times, but I will repeat again – playing in Italian Serie A is my dream and I can not wait start of the league. Of course I am very disappointed because of result of Poland at EuroVolley, but I want to distant myself from that competition and to focus on training. That is the best way to forget everything.”

On his new club team…

“I was fantastically received. From my first day I realized that the organization is perfect and I can proudly say that I am in big club. Only a few days left till the Supercup and a lot of work is waiting for us. The aim is, of course, to win it”.

Time to pick up the pieces Bartek and keep moving forward. We can’t wait to see you in your Macerata jersey together with 2013 European Silver medalists Ivan Zaytsev, Simone Parodi and Jiri Kovar.

It’s NOT your fault Bartosz!

Just because you made the mistake at match point, you can’t take the blame for the heartbreaking defeat yesterday versus Bulgaria.

After the match, Kurek bravely faced the media and said this:

“Myślę, że przegraliśmy trzeciego seta, bo zeszło z nas powietrze. Bardzo przepraszam moich kolegów. Końcówkę biorę na siebie. To były moje dwa błędy.”

As we’ve mentioned, he is saying that he is the main reason why Poland is eliminated from the tourney. They lost power after winning the first 2 sets and the 2 mistakes that he made were the turning points of the match especially the last point in the 5th set.

Kurek is also apologizing to his colleagues for the defeat.

Don’t be too hard on yourself Bartek.

You guys played your best and tried hard to win the match. Your fans supported your team throughout the match. They are feeling the pain and crying with you guys.

Like what Marcin said, this is not the last time and there is more to come from Poland in the future.

Bulgaria now faces Germany in the Quarterfinals.
