Only 12 Will Make It

This Sucks!

This is even going to be tougher for coaches and even more heartbreaking for some players who are too close to make it to the final cut & fulfill their Olympic dream. Plus over the last year or so, fans are already used to seeing 14 players on the final roster for major major FIVB tournaments. Sadly, it won’t be the case in London.

According the London 2012 site:

Venue: Earls Court
Date: Saturday 28 July – Sunday 12 August
Medal events: 2
Athletes: 288 (144 men, 144 women: 12 teams in each event) To break it down, 144 players/ 12 teams = 12 players per team.

Extra Extra:

At London 2012, both the men’s and women’s Volleyball competitions will begin with a preliminary phase: the 12 teams in each event will be divided into two pools of six, and each team will play every other team in their pool. The eight best teams from this phase will qualify for the knockout phase, with the winners of the semi-finals eventually going head to head for the gold.

Olympic dreams will be crushed next year.

This is so sad. We really hope there’s enough time to allow 14 instead of 12.

Come on FIVB!

Please do something!
