Kenya Volleyball Team Inspires

Inspiring!

If Cameroon players  inspired a lot of fans in Italy during the men’s world champs, Kenyans are doing the same thing in Japan. Their stories really inspire us. They may not be the best team out there but to represent the African continent is already an honor.

The Kenyan women are not just volleyball players back in their country, they also work as Prison Staff workers. Volleyball is not a profession in Africa at all and it’s rare for an African player to get an offer to play abroad. Life is tough as a player in Kenya.

The team gets  support from their government.

If there’s a tournament, they don’t have to work. The girls get time to prepare for the event and hope to do well. In Kenya, they don’t have the best facility to practice and play.  Prior to the World Champs, they practice outdoors, no roof and not the ideal floor for volleyball (we hope it’s not concrete).

The players are aware that without a suitable facility, the process of becoming a better team is quite a struggle.

On a positive note, Kenya has won the African Crown and got the ticket to represent Africa in World Champs for the 5th time. Keep it up ladies! We truly admire how hard you work to get to where you are now.  We wish you the best in Japan. <3

Side Dish: Kenyan player Moim almost fainted when she saw her idol Fabiana Claudino! Girlfriend was over the moon when she met Fabiana. We bet she has updated her Facebook and will be bringing bragging rights when she returns to Kenya. Jk! We totally feek Moim. We felt the same way when we were in Rome and met the best male vball players. Always remember…dreams come true.
