Thaisa Menezes On Fame & Volleyball

Thaisa Menezes is obviously one of the most highly publicized Brazilian volleyball players since winning her second Olympic gold at the 2012 Olympics.

The good thing is, she knows how to handle fame very well.

In an interview released by fivb.org, Thaisa reveals the price of being famous and of course some highlights of her volleyball career.

On Fame:

“There are a lot of photographers taking pictures of me going to the beach or shopping. It isn’t always easy, but I want to separate private and public life as far as I can. I don’t want to be famous, I want to play volleyball.”

On Her “Beijing 2008” and “London 2012” Tattoos:

“It was a hard season before the Olympic games in Beijing and I prayed that we could win this gold medal. I promised to God that I would tattoo it if we made it.”

On Being An Inspiration:

“It’s an amazing feeling. However, I don’t want to think too much about it, but only do my best and work hard. That’s the best example I can give.”

Her Volleyball Idol:

“I always looked up to Gustavo Endres. It was such an amazing feeling when I saw him for the first time.”

Training Hard At An Early Age:

“I played from two till eight o’clock in the evening against a wall: Reception and smash the whole time. Some of my friends said that it was foolish, but I believed in it and worked hard for my dream.”
