Brazil’s Coach Ze Roberto Keeps His Job

YAY!

We’re so happy that 3 time Olympic gold medalist (1992, 2008 & 2012), Ze Roberto Guimaraes, remains as the head coach of Brazil for the next Olympic cycle. The official announcement was made earlier today by the Brazilian Federation.

Despite a disappointing and heartbreaking result at the 2016 Olympics in front of their home fans, Coach ZRG is excited to work with possible a new breed of young players.

“It is a pleasure to officially begin another Olympic cycle. I have never seen myself outside the national team and outside Brazilian volleyball. Yes, it is bitter to think about how we got eliminated from the Rio Olympics, but now we have another goal.

After Beijing 2008 and London 2012, I had a feeling that we fulfilled our mission but now I feel that the mission is not accomplished. I feel that we have work to do in order to keep Brazil among the best volleyball teams in the world.” -Coach Guimaraes.

With veterans like Fabiana Claudino and Sheilla Castro retiring from the National Team, we are excited to see the team Coach ZRG will come up with starting next year.
