Player Dies After Fall

Our hears are breaking…

Kao Kue fell last Saturday while hiking down the Mist Trail with his relatives at Yosemite National Park in California, USA. The 17 year old was taken off life support last Wednesday. He was a volleyball player at Clovis West in Fresno, CA and even dreamed of playing in the Olympics.

Kao’s volleyball coach, Bob McCarthy, says…

“He was respectful, polite and a hard worker. He was well-liked by students and teachers. We were very fortunate to have Kao as a volleyball player and a student,” he said. “He was just one of those likable kids — easy to coach, easy to teach. I had full expectations that he was going to have a phenomenal senior year.

According to this article, Pao warned his brother while descending to be careful because the steps were slippery. Moments later “Kao then fell on a section of rock steps, rolled down about six or seven steps and struck his head”. He remained unconscious with his relatives while other hikers yelled for someone to call 911. He never regained consciousness according to his brother.

Pao says…

“Right before the accident, we had a nice talk about his future. He wanted to be an archaeologist and take up photography. Now he’s gone.”
