Kenia Carcases Joins Volero Zurich

We finally have a GREAT NEWS to share!

Former Cuban star, Kenia Carcases, has officially joined her former teammate Nancy Carrillo in Switzerland to play for Volero Zurich, the contry’s top women’s club team.

After almost 2 years of inactivity, we’ll see more of Kenia in the 2013/2014 season.

The 27 year old says:

“I have been inactive for the past 18 months and so this contract with Volero is a great opportunity to get back in the right shape. I do hope that next year we’ll participate in the CEV Volleyball Champions League and will play there the best teams in the world.”

You’re on the right track Kenia!

We’re sad we won’t see you compete for Cuba but above all we’re happy that you finally have the FREEDOM to play outside Cuba, earn some $$$ and start making your dreams come true.

She played for Cuba from 2005 until 2011 and competed at the 2008 Olympics with Cuba finishing 4th.

We could be wrong but we believe Kenia’s last major international FIVB tournament in her Cuban jersey was at the 2010 World Championship in Japan. Cuba didn’t medal but Kenia showed her world class skills especially in this match versus Italia.

If Volero needs another outside hitter, they should hire Aguero! She doesn’t have a team since Moden shut down last month. Imagine if Aguero, Carrillo and Kenia together on the same team? That’d be epic!

Congrats Mija!
