At least Wytze Kooistra is still on the team! Hah!

After a successful 2012, The Netherlands’ men’s coach Edwin Benne has revealed his preliminary roster for the 2013 season:

Nico Freriks
Nimir Abdelaziz
Daan van Haarlem
Gijs Jorna
Robbert Andringa
Niels Klapwijk
Robin Overbeeke
Sjoerd Hoogendoorn
Rob Bontje
Thomas Koelewijn
Bas Bemmelen
Michael Parkinson
Wytze Kooistra
Jeroen Rauwerdink
Thijs ter Horst
Ewoud Gommans

“This program is a worthy follow-up to a successful 2012 and gives us a great challenge and opportunity to work with our relatively young team.” according to coach Benne.

In case you didn’t know, it’s going to be a very hectic year for the Dutch team. First, they will have a training camp in Cyprus from April 28th-May 12th. Then they are scheduled to play some friendly matches versus Belgium on May 18th and 19th. Followed by the World Championship Qualification Tournament starting on May 23rd against Bosnia and Herzegovina, Azerbaijan and hosts Croatia.

The season even gets tougher for Kooistra and his teammates as they compete again in the prestigious World League tournament versus Japan, Egypt, Korea and Finland with a lot of traveling in the month of June.

After that, Coach Benne’s team will head to Denmark for the 2013 European Championship and will play against Finland, Serbia and Slovenia/ Croatia.

What a busy busy busy year for The Netherlands!

Stay healthy BBs!
