Jovana Brakocevic Says Mom Made Her Play VB

Mother knows best…

Jovana was into basketball when her mom told her to try volleyball…

“I started playing volleyball because my mom made me do it. I did not like it at first, but she could not stand to see me doing nothing every day.”

She reveals more!

The Serbian opposite who recently won the Turkish League crown & the Turkish Cup with Vakifbank shares how much she loves playing in Turkey…

“I like the life there, and the people both in and out of volleyball. The league is strong and our fans are incredible. They are very passionate about the colors of their team. I receive letters and some gifts from them, which I keep at my home in Serbia.”

As for winning individual awards, Jovana tells cev.lu a very humble perspective…

“I am aware that in a team sport an individual award actually belongs to the whole team, as well as all the staff and all the people who helped and supported me and worked with me to become a better player. I am grateful and cannot thank them enough.

The awards are important as long as you understand that they are just for that moment, that one game, that one competition. For the next one you have to work twice as hard to prove that you deserved the one you received before. But it is also a good way to push you to be even better and motivate yourself to work harder!”

Ever wonder how she spends her free time or when she is sad?

Check this out…

“I draw when I am sad or frustrated. It relaxes me. I always liked to draw, usually comic things. I copy them and sometimes add something from myself. I have drawn since I was a kid.”

We for sure want to see your drawings Jovana!

For now, enjoy your break and we can’t wait to see you in a few months with the National Team at the Grand Prix.
