No More Dmitriy Muserskiy On Russian Squad

Sadly, the 2012 Olympic champion reveals that he has NO plans playing for his country again.

In an interview released by sportowefakty, Muserksiy makes it clear that representing Russia is no longer part of his professional priorities.

When asked on why he missed the 2016 Olympic Qualification and the 2016 Olympics, Dima stated that it was due to family reasons he missed the qualification tourney. As for skipping the Olympics, he was injured but the Russian media send out the wrong word.

“I missed the Olympics due to an injury. I had torn patellar ligaments in both knees. In Russia, it was presented as an act of betrayal. This year, I decided to give up on playing for the national team.

As for his return, Dima is unsure of the future.

“I would like to play on a high level but I have no desire to play for Russia at the moment.”

Since winning Olympic Gold in London 5 years ago, Russia has not won ANY MAJOR international competition. The national team has gone through several changes which includes a younger lineup in the recently concluded FIVB World League with Russia finishing 5th.

Let’s wait and see how Russia does in the upcoming European Champs.

As for Dima, we wish him the best.
